Demographics

The Lake Local School District is located in Stark County, Ohio between Akron and Canton. Over 25,000 persons reside in the school district. More than 3,600 students in kindergarten through twelfth grades are enrolled in the five schools (two primary schools, one intermediate school, one middle school, and one high school). Individual student needs are addressed through a rich and varied curriculum and a wide range of sports, music, the arts and other extra-curricular activities. More than 90% of Lake students pursue a college-preparatory course of study and continue their education beyond the high school level. Our students have traditionally scored above average on standardized tests and Lake Local met 29 of 30 indicators on the 2006-2007 School District Report Card, receiving a rating of Excellent.

The district's student population has increased steadily at a rate of 10% since 2001.  The community has a median income of $36,692.00 with 30% of the population holding a college degree.  35% of the population are employed in administrative or professional occupations.  56% of residents are parents of a pre-school through 12th grade child and 61% are between the ages of 18 and 55 years old, indicating future growth for the district.  The district has enjoyed long-time support from the community, with the last survey from 2006 indicating that 82% of district residents are satisfied or very satisfied with Lake Local Schools.

The district also has a partnership with the YMCA, Mercy Medical Center, the Chamber of Commerce, the Historical Society and the Stark County Library.  A community complex allows for shared resources including healthcare, fitness, swimming, and library and technical resources.
